The Guardian Retreat is the vision of David Barglof, a disabled US Army veteran, and his wife, Angela.  After many years of military service and sacrifice, the Barglofs purchased a piece of land in Charles City to transform it into a farm and their forever home.  The transition from military life to the civilian sector was turbulent.  The Barglofs credit their farm as the reason they were able to survive such a challenging time of their lives.  Having the ability to literally disconnect from the noise and chaos of the modern world and spend time together in the peace and harmony of nature truly saved their family from becoming an all to common statistic.   They realized that many others could be helped through their blessings, thus The Guardian Retreat was born.

 

Over the last few years The Barglofs have been slowly working to build their dream vision using their own sweat, time and money.  They were granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS in early 2024.  We are happy to now be able to have the opportunity to work with others who believe in our vision and mission.  We have big dreams of being able to grow and expand our retreat.  We have designed The Guardian Retreat to be self-sustaining, but will always welcome additional help to realize our ultimate goals for the organization.
